Kenneth R. Hanika, Sr. 61, of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at his daughters home in Sioux City. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 with the family present from 3-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (formerly Nelson ~ Berger Morningside Chapel). No other services are being planned.
Kenneth was born on December 27, 1944 in Auburn, Nebraska to Melvin and Leota (Roberts) Hanika. He grew up and attended school in the Auburn and Nebraska City area. Kenneth drove truck for Brower Construction Company for 17 years. He was known as Custer on the CB, and always had Custer on his trucks. Kenneth enjoyed watching NASCAR races on television. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Kenneth is survived by his children: Tonya Hanika, Kenneth Hanika, Jr., Rea Hanika, Donnie Meeves, Gaylene Meeves, all of Sioux City, Julie Fitzgerald of CA: Tara (Susie) Taylor of Sioux City and Johnathon Hanika of Laurel, NE: and 3 ex-wives. 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, an infant daughter and 1 niece.
