SIOUX CITY -- Robert W. Haney of Sioux City passed away from a heart attack Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. David Cox of St. Luke Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Robert W. Haney was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Sioux City, the son of William and Flossie (Olson) Haney. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He married Marlyn L., Rowe on Oct. 1, 1949, in Luverne, Minn. She preceded him in death in December 2008. He was employed as a beef buyer for the Sioux City Stockyard, Needham, Flavorland, Dupree and Beef America.

He enjoyed golfing with his wife, friends and grandsons. He spent winters in Yuma, Ariz. with his many friends. He cherished time spent with his girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved to hunt and fish.

He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Meadow Golf Club and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include daughters and their husbands, LaRae and Tom Luettgen of Coweta, Okla., Kris and Richard Weber of Marcus, Iowa, and Patty and Perry Hegstrom of Moberly, Mo.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Law of Lawton, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlyn Haney; his parents, William "Bill" and Flossie Haney; and a brother-in-law, Frank Law.

Pallbearers will be Shane, Jason, Brandon and Matt Luettgen, Paxton, Brent, Bennett, Jay and Rob Hegstrom and Misty Davidson.

Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society and Goodwill Industries.
