Julie Ann Hall, 58, of South Sioux City, formerly of Newcastle, Neb., died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Newcastle, with the Revs. David Liewer and Dan Wittrock officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Newcastle. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will resume 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present, and a 7 p.m. rosary, followed by a vigil service, at the church in Newcastle.

Julie was born March 24, 1949, in Newcastle, the daughter of Hugo and Frances (Pearson) Pinkelman. She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1967, and from Stewart's Beauty School.

She married Lyle Hall on June 1, 1968, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Newcastle. Julie owned and operated her own beauty salon in Newcastle.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Newcastle and St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City for the last five years. She was a former officer of the St. Peter's Parish Center and a past member of Sacred Heart Sodality. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary. Julie was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and Nebraska football. During her illness, Julie discovered painting.

Survivors include her husband, Lyle Hall of South Sioux City; three daughters, Lisa (Dean) Burbach of Hartington, Neb., Lynette (Doug) Bauman of Ponca, Neb., and Lori (Cody) Christensen of Hartington; her mother, Frances Pinkelman of Hartington; 13 grandchildren, Felicia, Jeffery, Nicholas, Deacon, Luke, Anna and Sara Burbach, Brandon and Nathan Bauman, Kelsey, Sydney, Maizie and Cazden Christensen; a great-granddaughter, Hannah; four brothers, Richard Pinkelman of Maskell, Neb., Paul Pinkelman of Omaha, Neb., Daniel Pinkelman of Aurora, Neb., and William Pinkelman of Wayne, Neb.; and three sisters, Trudy Hagen of Newcastle, Patsy Stander of Ponca, and Michelle Pearson of Cornelius, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hugo Pinkelman.

Pallbearers will be Robb Hagen, Shane Pinkelman, Jeremiah Pinkelman, Matt Stander, Nicholas Burbach and Jeffery Burbach. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
