Stanley H. Hageman

HINTON, Iowa -- Stanley H. Hageman, 79, of Hinton died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, with the Rev. Steven Stoll officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.

Stan was born in 1930, in rural Woodbury County, Iowa, the son of Herman and Ella (Vohs) Hageman. He attended country schools in Woodbury and Plymouth counties and graduated from Hinton High School in 1948. He entered the U.S. Army and served from 1952 to 1954.

He married Lenore Larsen on Nov. 26, 1955, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. He farmed in the Kingsley, Iowa, and Hinton areas for many years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Casper Post 477. His favorite things after his family were fishing, mushroom hunting, livestock and grain farming, gardening, having coffee with friends and watching the Cards beat the Cubs. He also played fast pitch softball for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Lenore of Hinton; a daughter, Luann and her husband, Patrick Kafer of Waterloo, Iowa; four sons, Ronald Hageman and his wife, Carol of Peterson, Iowa, Michael Hageman and his wife, Michele of Millersville, Md., Douglas Hageman and his wife, Stephanie of Akron, Iowa, and Bill Hageman and his wife, Elaine of Marcus, Iowa; three sisters, Lorna Rembe of Sioux City, Eleanor Marienau and her husband, Leonard of Ireton, Iowa, and Norma Kovarna and her husband, Larry of Hinton; a brother, Darrell Hageman and his wife, Peggy of Hinton; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bill.

Pallbearers will be Ronald, Michael, Douglas and Bill Hageman, Patrick Kafer and Bret Hageman.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Stan's name.
