SIOUX CITY -- Deloris M. Haddad, 80, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at a local care facility surrounded by her family.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, with the Very Rev. Paul Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m. and a Trisagion service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Deloris was born April 24, 1928, in Hubbard, Neb., to Herbert and Faye (Howard) Harris. The family moved to Kingfisher, Okla., in 1939 to operate a fruit/vegetable market for her uncle, Ivan. They moved to Sioux City in 1941. They moved to Renton, Wash., in the early 1940s, where she worked for Boeing Aircraft during World War II. In 1944, she moved back to Sioux City with her parents and graduated from Leeds High School with the class of 1946.
In August 1946, she married Thomas Haddad in Sioux City and they were blessed with four daughters. She moved to Northern Hills Assisted Living in 2005, where she loved to play cards with her many friends.
She loved to bake, especially making Christmas candy. She was a great homemaker and loved to spend time with family and friends.
She is survived by three of her daughters, Cherie and her husband, Gary Schroeder of Carroll, Iowa, Judy and her husband, Denny Schule of Deer River, Minn., and JoAnn and her husband, Bob Barger of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Aaron) Swanson, Holly (Brandon) Schrauth, Emily (Travis) Hamilton, Brian (Doreen) Thoma, Amie (Darreck) Lisle and Justin (Amanda) Barger; 12 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Anna and Grace Swanson, Trae Hamilton, Rachel and Jacob Thoma, Austin, Christian and Hunter Lisle and Noah, Lacy and Emma Barger; and a brother, Leo Harris and his wife, Franie of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Haddad; a daughter, Bernadette "Bernie" Thoma; a son-in-law, Jerry Thoma; and a brother, Kenneth Harris.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Swanson, Brandon Schrauth, Travis Hamilton, Brian Thoma, Darreck Lisle and Justin Barger. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Schroeder, Denny Schule, Bob Barger, Doug Harris and Dick Harris.
Memorials will be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or St. Thomas Orthodox Church.
