Vicki L. (Pappas) Gunderson

SIOUX CITY -- Vicki L. (Pappas) Gunderson, 61, of Sioux City passed away Friday, June 11, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Greg Hanneman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Vicki was born Feb. 24, 1949, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Joyce (Moran) Pappas. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1967. She then attended National Business Training School (NBT) in Sioux City.

Vicki married Robert Merchant in September of 1972. She later married Michael Gunderson in 1983. Vicki worked for Palmer Candy for several years.

She was baptized, confirmed and a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Vicki enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends.

Survivors include three children, Jacy Peters of Merrill, Iowa, Maria Merchant of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ponce Pappas of Sioux City; her brothers and sisters, Colleen Berry of Huntington Beach, Calif., Carol Bruner of Omaha, Neb., Bill Pappas of North Sioux City, and Jerilyn Lanagan of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Corey Peters and Callie Trobaugh; her uncle, Gus Pappas of South Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jonne; and her aunt, Carol Pappas.

Pallbearers will be Robert Merchant Jr., Jeremy Merchant, Corey Peters, Scott Lanagan, Bill Pappas and Ponce Pappas.
