Teresa Marie Gubbels

SIOUX CITY -- Teresa Marie Gubbels, 81, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Sunrise Retirement Community.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding and her nephew, the Rev. David Korth officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service and rosary will be 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Teresa was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Vail, Iowa, the youngest of seven children born to Adolph and Blanche (McCullough) Siegner. She attended St. Ann's Catholic Church with a perfect attendance for 13 years. After graduation, she attended Ellis Beauty School in Sioux City.

She married Martin "Marty" Gubbels on May 29, 1950, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Vail. The couple raised their children in Sioux City. She worked for Western Hills Education Area 12 in the media center until her retirement.

She and her husband were active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was active in the Women's Guild for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Martin "Marty" of Sioux City; three children, Mary Kay and her husband, Denny Smid of Omaha, Jim Gubbels and his wife, Cindy of Reno, Nev., and Joe Gubbels and his wife, Debbie of Rosemount, Minn.; grandchildren, Laura and Katie Smid, Dan, Jackie (Nick) Royle and Bob Gubbels, Stephanie, Catherine and Michael Gubbels; a great-grandson, Easton, son of Jackie and Nick Royle; and a brother, Lyle Siegner of Corona, Calif.

Pallbearers will be Mike Korth, Mark Korth, Dan Gubbels, Mike Gubbels, Bill Lammers and Ed Lammers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Queen of Peace at Trinity Heights in Sioux City.
