Sarah J. "Sally" Griffin, 67, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, 1430 7th Ave. S.E., Le Mars, with Vicar Ed Durand officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Sally was born Oct. 20, 1941, in Sioux City, the daughter of Benjamin and Alma (Mathison) DeHaan. She married Harold Bolton and to this marriage, she was blessed with four children. She then married Lyle Griffin.
Sally was an avid angel and biblical collector. She enjoyed puzzles, games on the computer and crocheting afghans. Sally was very active in the Senior Help Mate Program.
Survivors include four children, Benjamin and wife, Tina Bolton of Stanford, Calif., Suzanne and husband, Bryan Heeren of Le Mars, Ronald and wife, Angeles Bolton of Sioux City, and Colleen and husband, Doug Hoppe of Le Mars; grandchildren, Shannon and husband, Steve Ivarsen, Gordan and wife, Kimberly Finch, Cody Heeren, Elizabeth Marie Bolton, Benjamin Lewis Bolton, Erika Marlene Herrera and Justin and wife, Linette Hoppe; 11 great-grandchildren; good friend, Bev Lynott of McCook Lake, S.D.; and a brother, John DeHaan of Le Mars.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle Griffin; a brother, Jim DeHaan; and a sister, Carolyn Hunt.
Helping was her nature, and at the time of her death, Sally helped by being an organ donor.
