Margaret Jean Grego

November 24, 1921 — February 16, 2011

SIOUX CITY -- Margaret Jean Grego, 89, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at a local hospital.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nea Huggins officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jean was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Milbank, S.D., to Lee and Edna (McReynolds) Gardiner. She lived most of her life in the Sioux City area, graduating from Central High School.

She married Patrick Grego on Feb. 17, 1968, in Sioux City. Jean was a sales clerk for Toller Drug from the years of 1944 until 1975. She returned to work at Leeds Beauty Salon in 1977, where she called herself their Girl Friday, running various errands and helping around the shop until her retirement in 1993.

She was a proud member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, along with her memberships to the Vitamin Club (which she referred to as "being one of the old pills"), and the "Van Gang" which those traveling associates can relate to.

Jean is survived by her niece, Linda (John) Jermanis of San Leandro, Calif. and their two children, John (Jana) Jermanis and their son, Derick, of Placenta, Calif., and Dana (Mark) St. Marys of San Leandro, Calif.; stepdaughter, Frances Grego (Art) Krull of Le Mars, Iowa, and their five children, Pat (Ellen) Krull of Sioux City, Londa Krull of Alaska and her two children of Sioux City, Daniel Krull and his son of Sioux City, Aaron (Tabatha) Krull of Pennsylvania, and Karrie (Brad) Seaman and their five children of Lincoln, Neb.; niece, Carmen Grego White of Sioux City and her two children, Jessica (Aaron) Dominowski and their children, and Nicole (Jeff) Brace of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and one great-great-grandchild.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Patrick in 1980; brother, Bill; and sister, Ruth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be directed to the Wesley United Methodist Church.
