SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Lucille E. "Lu" Grefe, 86, of South Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in South Sioux City.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Lucille was born June 27, 1922, on the family farm in rural Crawford County, near Mapleton, Iowa, to William and Ella Wendt. She worked for several firms in the Sioux City area including Younker Martin's, Johnson Biscuit, Metz Baking Company and Bomgaars from which she retired.
She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Senior Center. She loved to read and kept up on politics. She was never afraid to let her opinions be known about the politicians at both local and national levels. She was known for getting more out of a dollar bill than anyone.
She is survived by her sons, Dana (Melodee) of Madrid, Iowa, and David (Lisa) of Arden, N.C.; and five grandchildren. She developed many friendships during her life and her special friends were Arlene Held, Ann Zenor and Norma Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and a brother.
Memorials may be directed to the family in care of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
