SIOUX CITY -- Joyce P. Greedy, 88, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Sweet Life of Grand Court.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, with the Rev. R. Paul Johnston officiating. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements.
Joyce was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Sioux City, the daughter of Reuben L. and Doris L. Enockson. She graduated from Central High School, and attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City.
She married Phillip B. Greedy on Jan. 26, 1946. During her marriage, she was a mother, homemaker, and worked at Younkers Department store in the childrens department. During their marriage, they lived in Wahoo, Neb., Glenview and Northbrook, Ill., Atlantic, Iowa, and settled in Sioux City. In later years, she and her husband moved to Overland Park, Kan., to be closer to their daughter, Susan Joslin.
Joyce loved to play bridge with her friends and she always had a needlework or sewing project going for family or friends (who cherish those gifts today). She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 64 years, Phillip B. Greedy of Overland Park, Kan.; son, John Alan Greedy and wife, Sharon, and granddaughter, Kristen of Pickerington, Ohio; son, Thomas William Greedy and wife, Lisa of Lucas, Texas; and daughter, Susan Joslin and husband, Chuck Heckmann of Olathe, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Odyssey Hospice, 800 East 101st Terrace, Suite 150, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
