Wayne was born June 2, 1918, in rural Sloan, Iowa, to Orville and Clara (Titterington) Goodwin Sr. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Sloan Community School System. Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the beginning of World War II and later served in the U.S. Army until the war ended.

Wayne married LaVaun "Bonnie" Junck on Feb. 20, 1943, in Luverne, Minn., and made Lawton their home. The couple ran the Goodwin Locker in Lawton for more than 30 years as well as a laundromat and a feed store. Wayne also drove the school bus in Lawton for 30 years and operated a tank wagon service in the evenings, supplying fuel to area farmers.

He was a great husband, father and grandfather, enjoying his family, being called inseparable from his wife, and taking great pride in the education and successes of his children and grandchildren. Wayne and Bonnie enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling together in their motor home, especially to fishing spots in South Dakota and Wisconsin. Wayne was proud of his memberships to Bethel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 718 of Lawton, Lawton Community Club, Dancing Grannies and Grampas Club and was a past member of the Lawton City Council.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 68 very happy years, LaVaun "Bonnie" of Lawton; children, Nancy (Rodney) Rentel of Sioux City, Kaye (Wayne) Albers of Holstein, Iowa, and Terry (Colleen) Goodwin of Sioux City; grandchildren, Scott (Ashley) Albers of St. Joseph, Mo., Steve (Mariam) Albers of Long Beach, Calif., Jenny (Scott) Thorson of Waverly, Iowa, Michael (Megan) Goodwin of St. Anthony, Minn., Sarah Goodwin of Sioux City, Alison (John) Lacska of Stillwater, Minn., and Nicholas Rentel of West Des Moines; sisters-in-law, Elinor Goodwin of Lincoln, Neb., Lucille Eberly of Sioux City, and Mildred Scherner of Sioux City; and six great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathryn Hughes and Irene Murphy; and brothers, Orville Goodwin Jr. and Everett Goodwin.

Memorials may be offered to Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton.
