Lynette A. Goins, 55, of Sioux City died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil service 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Lynette was born Jan. 12, 1953, in Central City, Neb., the daughter of Robert and Alnetta (Kargas) Topinka. She grew up in Columbus, Neb., and graduated from Scotus Catholic High School. She met her future husband, Rick, while attending Patricia Stevens Career College in Omaha, where she graduated with a degree in fashion merchandising.

She married Richard "Rick" Goins on May 8, 1976, in Columbus. She was always supportive of Rick and his career as a bank examiner. The couple lived in Sioux Falls, S.D., Edmond, Okla., and Omaha. They moved to and made their home in Sioux City in 1989. The couple were blessed with four children. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to her family. She also worked in the Bishop Heelan High School cafeteria for several years while her children were students at Bishop Heelan.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the choir. She had a strong Catholic faith and attended the Tuesday evening Miraculous Medal services at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was very active in the Iowa Right to Life and was in charge of mailing out the monthly newsletters. Her family was very important to her. She was a constant source of wisdom and joy to those around her. She enjoyed attending her children's activities, sporting events and spending time with her many friends. She also loved baking, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of Sioux City; three sons, Dr. Andrew J. Goins of Baltimore, Md., Dr. Nicholas Goins and his wife, Jamie of Schererville, Ind., and Benjamin Goins of Omaha; a daughter, Claire Goins, a student at Santa Clara University in California; a sister, Cindy and her husband, Leon Warnick of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Andrew Goins, Dr. Nicholas Goins, Benjamin Goins, Mike Warnick, Craig Warnick and Chris Warnick.

Memorials may be made in her name to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center in Sioux City.
