Jeffrey Dean Garreans, 46, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Jeffrey was born May 27, 1960, in Omaha, the son of Terry D. and Ruth M. (Sedlacek) Garreans. He was raised in Thurman, Iowa, and graduated from Fremont-Mills High School. Shortly after, he moved to Omaha and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his discharge from the military, he did his undergraduate work at the University of Iowa, where he eventually earned his law degree.
He married Anne L. Houston on July 10, 1992, in Denison, Iowa. In that same year, the couple moved to Sioux City, where he became affiliated with the Rawlings-Nieland-Probasco-Killinger-Ellwanger-Jacobs and Mohrhauser Law Firm. He eventually opened his own law practice. He was passionately dedicated to his law career.
He especially enjoyed time spent with his children and close friends.
Survivors include his children, two sets of twins, Jeffrey John "Jack" Garreans, Claire Kelley Garreans, Grace Anne Garreans and Samuel Houston Garreans, all of Sioux City; his parents, Terry Garreans of Bellevue, Neb., and Ruth Garreans of Corpus Christi, Texas; four sisters, Teresa and her husband, Greg Golden of Thurman, Iowa, Debra Dank of Farragut, Iowa, Melissa Garreans of Davie, Fla., and Lori Garreans of Corpus Christi, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
