Ronald L. Gallagher, 81, of Dakota Dunes passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ronald "Corky" was born Sept. 12, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., to Edward F. and Wilma Gallagher -- Amen. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. He was awarded a Commendation Medal for his meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty during his enlistment from 1963 through 1965 as Plans and Operations Officer of the 1st Brigade of the 102d (Ozark) Infantry Division.
He was a master carpenter in the St. Louis, Mo. area. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish.
Corky is survived by his sister, Schatzie and her husband, Ralph Schiermann of Fremont, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Eileen Gallagher of St. Louis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Gallagher.
