Larry Gene Freerking, 69 of Sioux City, IA passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011 at a local hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services were held Monday, March 21, 2011 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City, IA. Burial will be at a later date at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery near Charter Oak, IA. Condolences may be made online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Larry was born July 8, 1941 in Mapleton, IA the son of Fred and Gertrude (Beeney) Freerking. He grew up in Mapleton and then moved to Sioux Cit. He worked as a welder and retired from McCracken Besser Co.
Larrys greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren. He also enjoyed conversation and time spent with his friends.
Survivors include 3 children, Lyle Freerking and his wife, Pat of Onawa, IA, Anita Moore of Sioux City, IA and Susan Ryan of Onawa; 2 brothers, Fred Freerking and his wife, Arlenne and Donnie Freerking all of Wisconsin; 3 sisters, Phyllis Ellis and her husband, Richard of Illinois, Viola Reed and her special friend, Bill of Missouri and Shirley Hesse of Mapleton, IA; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Freerking of Illinois; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie, Vanessa, Franklin, Nicole and Dillon; 2 great-granddaughters, Annalise and Tiffanie; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Freerking, his parents, and 2 brothers, LaVerne Freerking and Ray Freerking.
