Edward L. Franke, 60, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008, at First Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Al Weiss officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by the U.S. Army Reserves. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Edward was born Nov. 15, 1947, in Sioux City, the son of Laverne and Claire (Funk) Franke. He attended Sloan High School. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in two tours during the Vietnam War.
He married Carrie Bowman on Aug. 26, 1972, in Sergeant Bluff.
Ed was an avid fisherman and loved playing cards. He was a diehard Cubs fan. He enjoyed being active and spending time at the Senior Center.
He attended First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Franke of Sioux City; a son, Travis (Marie) Franke of Sioux City; a daughter, Tiffany Franke of Sergeant Bluff; five grandchildren; and a sister, Karen (Dan) Roseur of Sacramento, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Chad; and aunts and uncles.
Casket bearers will be Claude Warren Jr., Wayne Stanley, Tom Eslick, Don Rosenow, Kevin Koch and Ed Ureste.
