Sidney D. Forre

June 10, 1924 — February 16, 2007

Sidney D. Forre, age 82, of Newman Grove died Friday, February 16, 2007 at Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Shell Creek Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. Burial will be at Shell Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18th at Shell Creek Lutheran Church.

Sidney was born on June 10, 1924 to Gunder and Valda (Hanson) Forre near Newman Grove. He received his early education at District #62, Madison County, and graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1941. Sidney farmed with his father until he served time in the U.S. Army in 1949. On June 4, 1950, Sidney and Phyllis Schlender were married in Madison, Nebraska. To this union one son and four daughters were born.

He retired from farming in 1989. Sidney enjoyed woodworking, fishing, tinkering, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his dog, Shasta. Sidney was baptized, confirmed and was a life-long member of Shell Creek Lutheran Church, where he served on church council and cemetery board. He also served on the District #62 school board for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Forre of Newman Grove; daughter Connie (Wayne) Rankin of Albion, son Dan (Kim) Forre of Newman Grove, daughter Judy (Randy) Querry of Ralston, daughter Linda (Frank) Weiher of Stanton, daughter Vicki (Joe) Haugen of Elkhorn; grandchildren, Bob (DaNeal) Rankin of Newman Grove, Renae (Darren) Guthard of Hickman, Dusty (Erin) Forre of Newman Grove, Danielle (Kevin) Herchenbach of Lindsay, Halie (Kyle) Whitaker of Chambers, Lacey (Jacque) Anson of Atkinson, Jason Querry & fiance Jamie Jaros of Omaha, Brent Querry of Ralston, Heather and Heath Weiher of Stanton; Emily, Jake, Trevor and Michael Haugen of Elkhorn; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Jeanette (Les) Mortensen of Portland, OR, Ruby (Bill) Meyer of Sioux City, IA, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Forre of Bellwood, Elnore (Lyle) Freudenburg of Madison and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sidney was preceded in death by his parents, Gunder and Valda Forre, sisters Lou (Milton) Hassel, LuJean (Herb) Esterly, Opal Forre and brother, Glenn Forre.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harlan Johnson, Gale Anderson, Dean Johnson, John Johnson, John Williamson, Dennis McCloud, Trevor Haugen and Michael Haugen.

Pallbearers will be Bob Rankin, Kevin Herchenbach, Darren Guthard, Kyle Whitaker, Dusty Forre, Jason Querry, Jacque Anson, Brent Querry and Heath Weiher.

Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, Sioux City, Iowa.
