Opal Ann Forre, age 91 of Newman Grove, Nebraska passed away Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Shell Creek Lutheran Church in Newman Grove with Jacquelyn Samway, PMA and Becky Lauck, Vicar officiating. Burial will be in Shell Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from noon until service time Tuesday at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa is handling arrangements.
Opal was born January 14, 1915 in Newman Grove the daughter of Gunder G. and Valda B. (Hanson) Forre. She graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1931 and from California Beauty School in Omaha. Opal lived the majority of her life in Omaha, Nebraska where she was a self-employed beautician for many years then a bookkeeper for Natelsons Clothing Store for 20 years. She retired in 1985.
She was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member at Shell Creek Lutheran Church. Opal enjoyed traveling, especially to foreign countries. She is survived by four siblings and their spouses, F. Jeanette (Forre) and Les Mortensen of Portland, Oregon, Glenn I. and Dorothy Forre of Bellwood, Nebraska, Sidney D. and Phyllis Forre of Newman Grove, Nebraska, Ruby A. (Forre) and W. William Meyer of Sioux City, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gunder and Valda Forre, two sisters and their husbands, Lou and Milton Hassel and LuJean and Herb Esterly.
Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in her name to Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove.
