Robert Newton Force, 90 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center. Per Roberts wishes his body was cremated and double graveside services for Robert and his wife Madeline will be held on Saturday, November 08, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Graceland Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Robert was born February 12, 1918 in Sioux City the son of Judson H. and H. Mae (Bendixen) Force. A lifelong resident of Sioux City, he graduated from Central High School in 1935. After graduation her served his country in the U.S. Army. Robert married Madeline M. Heine on June 25, 1938. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, taught in the Sunday School and sang for a number of years in the choir.
Robert was employed for a number of years by Finley & Rath, whose business he later purchased along with Sioux City Blue Print and operated as a Land Surveyor. He also worked at Sioux City Tools during the war years as well as the Woodbury Engineering Office.
He was a member of the Monahan Post #64, American Legion, Nordic Male Chorus & Scandinavian Societies, and the Siouxland Senior Center Chorus. Sioux City Stamp Club & the Woodbury County Genealogical Society as well as the Noon Lions.
He is survived by his son Ronald W. (Jo Ellen) Force of Moscow, ID; daughter Judith (Leonard) Sigler of Bella Vista, AR; daughter Barbara (Darrell) Stansbury of Sioux City; daughter Ellen (James) Kalkwarf of Des Moines; 6 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, sister Betty (Curtis) Buck of Elk River, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant daughter Patricia, sister Dorothy and a brother Donald.
