Michael F. Flood

September 8, 1946 — April 3, 2010

SIOUX CITY -- Mike F. Flood, 63, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at a local hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mike was born on Sept. 8, 1946, in Sioux City to John H. and Earline (Meek) Flood. He graduated from Central High School with the class of 1964. Mike started college at Iowa State University, transferred to Western Iowa Technical Community College, and completed his associate's degree in drafting in 1966. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967, and was discharged due to medical hardship. Upon returning to Sioux City, Mike became employed at Concrete Pipe Machinery, where he was in charge of inventory control, scheduling and quality control for 13 years.

Mike married Mary Koeppen on Oct. 16, 1976, in Sioux City. He started his 23-year career with Jay-Lan of Iowa, where Mike was territory manager of the Morningside area of Sioux City, before his retirement in 2007.

Mike was a proud member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, coins, and various types of caps. He loved working in his yard, gardening, and fishing, but found his greatest joy in his family. Mike traveled to his daughters' activities, seldom missing any, and continued the love for his family by attending his grandchildren's activities. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and Chicago Cubs fan. Mike's hardy laugh brought joy to his family and friends, and will be dearly missed by all.

Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Flood of Sioux City; daughters, Missy Wheeler and her husband, Josh of Sergeant Bluff, and Chelle Jones and her husband, Namon of Sioux City; aunts, Deenette Von Minden and her husband, Merle of Allen, Neb., and Marie Shepard of Branson, Mo.; and grandchildren, Easton and Addison Wheeler of Sergeant Bluff, and Jaylin Jones of Sioux City.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry; and his uncle, Wilbur Flood.
