Lillian J. Fletcher, 76, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. David Alfredson of Malone African Methodist Episcopal Church in Sioux City, and the Rev. Bobby Moore of Gaines Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in East Moline, Ill., officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Lillian was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Sioux City, the daughter of Raymond and Winifred C. (Hall) Winfrey. She graduated from Central High School and later from the National Business Training College.

She married Ernest R. Fletcher in May 1953 in Sioux City. She had been employed with the Department of Human Services for 23 years, retiring in 1994.

She was actively involved in the lives of her children. She had been both a Brownie and Girl Scout leader at one time. She was also involved with the P.T.A. and other school activities. She had been a member of Malone A.M.E., where she was active in the M.T. Club, trustee board and steward board. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 22.

Survivors include five children, Shari and her husband, Oneal Smith of Sioux City, Jeffrey Fletcher and his wife, Karen of Mesa, Ariz., Kevin Fletcher and his wife, Sheila of Sioux City, Linnea Fletcher of Sioux City and Ramona Fletcher of Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Jason, Justin and Faith Smith, Desiree and her husband, Shannon Hayes, Drew Fletcher, Joi Fletcher, K. Anthony Fletcher and Brandon Franklin; and three great-grandchildren, Amistad Hayes, Darian Hayes and Devon Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Tia Fletcher.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Hayes, Gary Hayes, Ersel Hayes, Enoch Hayes, Andrew Pearson and Gerardo Alcaraz. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Justin Smith, Brandon Franklin, Drew Fletcher, K. Anthony Fletcher and Emmanuel Alcaraz.
