Marjorie J. Fleckenstein

Marjorie J. Fleckenstein, 90, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Bickford Cottage.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Augustana Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Marjorie Jeanette was born Oct. 30, 1916, in Moorhead, Iowa, the daughter of Anton M. and Anna Marie (Nikolaisen) Petersen. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1933. In 1936, she moved to Sioux City and attended the National Business Training College.

She married Jack Palmer Fleckenstein on Oct. 23, 1940 in Sioux City. He died May 2, 2003, in Sioux City. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in his photography business.

She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she was active in the church circle, WELCA, the Piece Corps Quilting Group and the Konsthandiverkers (needle workers group). She enjoyed yard work, stitching and her family.

Survivors include five children and spouses, Paul and Cindy Fleckenstein of Sioux City, Allen Fleckenstein of Bellevue, Wash., Linda and Curt Macy of Cleveland, Tenn., Steve and Lynn Fleckenstein of Hinton, Iowa, and John and Janet Fleckenstein of Sergeant Bluff; a sister, Bethine Thogerson of Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and spouses, Kristen and Bill Timmons of Sioux City, Angela and Steve Geier of Kearny, Mo., Gina Fleckenstein of Kirkland, Wash., Brandon Fleckenstein of Monroe, Wash., Brooke Macy of Knoxville, Tenn., Stephanie and David Morrow of Cleveland, Tenn., Cyd Fleckenstein-Hall and Matthew of Hinton, Iowa, Jason Fleckenstein of Sergeant Bluff, Jamie Fleckenstein of West Palm Beach, Fla., Joshua Fleckenstein of Sergeant Bluff and Jacob Fleckenstein of Sergeant Bluff; 11 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Joyce Thomsen of Denver, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; and a grandson, Mac Fleckenstein.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in her name to Augustana Lutheran Church of Hospice of Siouxland.
