Lorna K. Flanagan

September 26, 1913 — February 9, 2008

Lorna K. Flanagan, 94, of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2008 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Merlin Schrad celebrating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Lorna was born on September 26, 1913 in Parker, South Dakota to Raymond and Loretta (Kneebs) Fowler. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Central High School. On October 3, 1940, she married John Maurice Flanagan in Jackson, Nebraska. Lorna was a home maker and mother to her children, but she also worked at Younkers for several years. She was a long time Sioux City resident.

Lorna was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 40 years and then a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for the last 12 years. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters.

Lorna was devoted to her children, her grandchildren and her faith. She had a very positive attitude in life. She enjoyed traveling, ocean sunsets and gardening which she continued until she was 92. Lorna especially loved nature and animals.

Lorna is survived by her children, John Flanagan and wife Martha of Cincinnati, OH, Daniel Flanagan and wife Linda of St. Louis, MO, Michael Flanagan and wife Janet of Sioux City, IA, and Margie Dretsch and husband Rodney of Rochester, MN. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maurice Flanagan on September 25, 1999, a brother and sister.
