SIOUX CITY -- Joseph Neal "Joe" Fisher, 67, of Sioux City passed away suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Joe was born Jan. 26, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Frank and Ethel (Hallett) Fisher Jr. He grew up in Sioux City, then attended the University of Minnesota, the University of Hawaii and received his bachelor of arts degree from Morningside College. He started his career in sales with his own garden center. He worked for Flowers by Fisher, then for Fisher Wholesale Plants. He was employed for 30 years with M.C.I., then for Dennex and currently worked for Armadillo Rail Crew Express.

On Aug. 9, 1975, he married Linda K. Reifenrath in Sioux City.

He loved animals, airplanes, writing lyrics and talking politics with people. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Capt. Neal J. Fisher and his wife, Melissa of Fort Riley, Kan., and Kyle J. Fisher of Sioux City; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Frank.
