Frank E. Fisher

Frank E. Fisher, 66, of Bronson, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mr. Fisher was born March 29, 1940, in Sioux City, the son of Frank A. and Ethel (Hallett) Fisher Sr. He graduated from Central High School in 1958, then from Morningside College. He served in the National Guard and earned the American Spirit Honor Medal.

He married Patty Anderson on Jan. 17, 2001, in Hawaii. After college he worked for 3M in Omaha before returning to Sioux City to help in the family business. He owned and operated Flowers By Fisher until December 2005. He was a certified interior plantscaper and horticulturist.

He was a Boy Scout leader, youth football coach, SYA girls basketball coach, a volunteer football coach for several area high schools and a mentor to kids at football camps. He was a member of the Business Leaders and the Downtown Rotary Club. He did volunteer work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He received the Governor's Leadership Award from Governor Ray. He enjoyed fishing, go-carts, muscle cars, spending time with his family and he was an animal lover.

Survivors include his wife, Patty of Bronson, Iowa; a son and his wife, F. Scott and Karen Fisher of Crystal Lake, Ill.; a daughter and her husband, Christina and Mark Bliven of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Joseph and Linda Fisher of Sioux City; two stepsons, Zane Chwirka and his wife, Jayme of Sioux City and Josh Chwirka of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Samantha and Victoria Fisher; a soon to be grandson, Collin James Bliven; and a stepgrandson, Zander Chwirka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Betty Jane Fisher.

Pallbearers will be Tim Bornholtz, Mark Bliven, Josh and Zane Chwirka, Mark Meis and Loren Weitzel.
