Edward E. Eyer

June 10, 1941 — February 9, 2007

Edward E. Eyer, 65 of Chatsworth, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 9, 2007 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Following Cremation, there will be a private interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Edward was born on June 10, 1941 in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, the son of David E. and Sylvia Irene (Longstreth) Eyer. He moved to Sioux City with his family as a child. He graduated from Western Iowa Tech with a degree in Building Maintenance. Ed married Viola H. (Marine) Davis on December 19, 1970 in Elk Point, South Dakota. He was employed with Sioux Tools for several years. Later, he worked at IBP. Viola preceded him in death on July 22, 1980 in Sioux City. In 1990, Ed moved to Le Mars, where he was employed with Chemical Sanitizing Systems. He moved to Chatsworth in 2006. Ed was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include five children, Kimberly Solomon of Sioux City, George Davis and special friend, Ruth Nelson of Sioux City, Marian and her husband, Steve of Indianapolis, Indiana, Herbert Davis of Sioux City and David Eyer and his wife, Tammy of Craig, Iowa; two sisters, Joan Stevenson of Des Moines, Iowa and Sue Schofield and her husband, Ralph of Rockland, Mass.; a brother, Gary Eyer and his wife, Judy of Olatha, Kansas. Ed is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, Marilyn Eyer of Moville, Iowa and Joan Eyer of Hornick, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers, John and Keith Eyer.
