Louise Eybers, 86, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2007 at her home with family at her side. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Reverend James Bruch celebrating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Louise was born on October 10, 1920 in Sioux City to Jacob and Anna (Weidert) Smith. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Central High School in 1938. On August 28, 1940, she married John Jack Eybers at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Louise worked at T.S. Martin and Younkers as a sales clerk before going to work at West High School in the cafeteria for 12 years.
She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, bingo and traveling to their cabin at Lake Shetek in Minnesota. They also spent their winters in Texas, which she very much enjoyed. Louise also loved having coffee on Monday mornings with her brothers and sister and having dinner dates with Steve for the last few years. Louise also enjoyed watching T.V. game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Who Want To Be A Millionaire.
Louise was a former member of Sacred Heart Church before moving. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church since 1961.
Louise is survived by her daughters, Peggy Lewis & Steve Breuer of Sioux City and Jackie Couron and her husband Larry of Council Bluffs, IA: 4 grandchildren, Roxanne Kellen and her husband Dan, Connie OHern and her husband Rob, John Lewis and his wife Jamie, and Doug Couron and his wife Susan. 9 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ron Smith and his wife Karen of Sioux City, IA; and Denny Smith and his wife Karen of Sioux City, IA. A sister Lois Barker and her husband Roy of Sioux City, IA.
Preceding her death were her parents, husband John in 2002, great grandson Brett Kellen, brother Don Smith and several nieces and nephews.
