Antoinette Everson

June 21, 1923 — March 9, 2007

Antoinette Everson, 83, of Sioux City died suddenly Friday, March 9, 2007, at a Sioux City Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Hanneman officiating. Graveside services will be held in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Harrison, SD at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. all at the church on Monday, March 12, 2007. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Antoinette (Plooster) Everson was born June 21, 1923, on the family farm near Harrison, South Dakota, to Engel and Marie Plooster. She graduated from Corsica High School and attended Southern State Normal College in Springfield, South Dakota and taught several years at country schools near Harrison, South Dakota.

On July 6, 1945, she married Ernest E. Everson. Antoinette taught school and Ernie farmed until 1957 when they moved to Sioux City and opened a small business together. Ernie passed away June 19, 1962, and Antoinette continued to operate their business an additional 15 years.

She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she served in several capacities throughout her 50 years of membership.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Faye Everson of Sioux City, and Cheryl Lea Pederson and her husband Denny of Des Moines and two grandsons, Neil Pederson of Denver, CO, and Mark Pederson of Des Moines, her longtime special friend, Myron Allard of Jefferson, SD, two brothers and their wives, Arlo and Arlene Plooster, Dean and Marlene Plooster, two sisters, Elsie Jongsma and Adrianna DeLange and her husband Heyme, sister-in-law Mrs. Earl Everson and Mrs. Oliver Everson and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, parents Engel and Marie Plooster, brother Willard and in-laws Ever and Martha Everson, Viola Everson, Earl Everson, Oliver Everson, and Bill Jongsma.

Antoinette will forever be remembered by all those who knew and loved her for her graciousness and genuine love and concern for others.
