Geneva E. Erickson

Geneva E. Erickson, 92, of Sioux City died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Alan Wicks of First Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Wausa, Neb., Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Nelson Berger Northside Chapel. Geneva was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Wausa, Neb., to Algot and Anna (Nordeen) Carlson. She attended school in Hershey and Wausa, Neb.

She married Ralph Erickson on Dec. 15, 1937, in Wausa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1982, in Sioux City. Geneva was a housewife and farmer's wife until retiring from farming in 1962, when they moved to Sioux City. They then served as custodians of First Lutheran Church until 1976.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux City and the First Lutheran Sewing Bees.

Survivors include her children, a daughter, Loretta and James Farrer of Sioux City; a son, Conrad and Karen Erickson of Sioux City; a son-in-law, Allen and Kathy Prosch of Fremont, Neb.; grandchildren, grandsons, Glen and Tamie Farrer, Tim and Sandy Farrer and Mike Erickson, all of Sioux City, and Richie and Gina Prosch of Lohman, Mich, granddaughters, Gena Williams and Kristi and Troy Wilken, all of Sioux City; great-grandchildren, Shelby Farrer, Dakota Farrer, Cody Williams, Olyvia Williams, Ryan Wilken, Kayte Wilken and Wyatt Prosch; a brother-in-law, Richard Youngkrantz of Yankton, S.D.; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Eileen Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Anita; her parents; two sisters, Gladys Lind and Virginia Youngkrantz; and a brother-in-law, Virgil Lind.
