Frank Epstein

Dr. Frank Epstein, 97, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2006 in Sioux City. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Congregation Beth Shalom with Rabbi Guy Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Sioux City. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. Frank Epstein was born on July 15, 1909 in Russia to Thomas and Fannie (Keteyn) Epstein. He was a resident of Sioux City for 92 years. Dr. Epstein, known to his patients as Dr. Pickle, was a practicing dentist for 57 years, specializing in childrens dentistry. He was a former president of the Shaare Zion Synagogue, Jewish War Veterans, and the Sioux City Dental Society and was a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Upon his retirement in 1989 at the age of 80, he became an active community volunteer.

Dr. Epstein is survived by his wife, Florence, daughter Dori Weisman (Dr. Herb), grandson David Weisman (Dana Beth) and granddaughter Marnee Povitz (Eric) and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia.
