Dustin L. Engelbrecht, 32, of Sioux City died Friday, June 8, 2007, at his residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Monsignor Roger Augustine officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Dustin was born Nov. 12, 1974, in Sioux City, the son of Gary L. and Gloria (Husman) Engelbrecht. He was baptized at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City. He graduated from North High School in 1993 and then served four years with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He married Shawna Salter on Sept. 8, 2001, in Elk Point, S.D. Dustin worked at Gateway before moving to Omaha, where he worked for Anderson Auto Sales in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He recently returned to Sioux City and was employed by Alorica, Inc.
Dustin enjoyed fishing, writing and rock climbing. He especially enjoyed the times he spent with his son.
Survivors include his son, Stephen Engelbrecht of Sioux City; his mother, Gloria D'Ottavio and her husband, Tony of Sioux City; his father, Gary Engelbrecht of Sioux City; two brothers, Michael Engelbrecht and his wife, Joan of Hiawatha, Iowa and Nathan Engelbrecht of Iowa City, Iowa; a sister, Jessica Engelbrecht of Sioux City; a half-sister, Karla Jaeke of Windsor, Wis.; his maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Bonnie Husman of Marcus, Iowa; his maternal great-grandmother, Claire Husman of Aurelia, Iowa; nephews, Cade and Jamison; a niece, Ava; three stepbrothers, Aldo D'Ottavio and his wife, Johanna and their son, A.J. of Washington, D.C., Gianni D'Ottavio and his wife, Kari and their children, Jenna and Dominic of Westminster, Colo. and Mario D'Ottavio of Des Moines; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lyle and Marie Engelbrecht; an uncle, Fidelis Engelbrecht; and an aunt, Gloria Muth and her husband, Stan.
Pallbearers will be Mick and Shane Muth, Will Husman, Andy Rupp, Ben Husman and Jim Husman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a trust fund for his son, Stephen.
