Marcella B. Elliott

SIOUX CITY -- Marcella B. Elliott, 92, of Sioux City, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Revs. Merlin Schrad and Steve Cooney (her nephew) officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Marcella was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Crofton, Neb., the daughter of Anton and Catherine (Ausdemore) Steffen. She grew up in Crofton and graduated from Crofton High School in 1936. She attended National Business Training School in Sioux City for two years.

She married Richard Elliott on July 14, 1943, in Abilene, Texas. He died Oct. 14, 1986, in Sioux City.

She had a career as a bookkeeper for several commission firms at the Livestock Exchange Building at the Sioux City Stockyards for 25 years. She was a member of the Stockettes. She also enjoyed working at the Crittenton Center and Stella Sanford Community Center.

Marcella was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lynn Elliott of Sioux City; her son, Rick Elliott and wife Carla of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Jody Ridnour and husband Jason of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Joel Grondek and wife Jenn of San Diego, Calif., Jason Elliott and Cory Elliott, both of Sioux City; two great-grandchildren, Jardin Ridnour and Eli Elliott; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Lawrence, Art, Norb and John Steffen; and sisters, Regina Meyer, Rosina Cooney, Martina Zurcher and Valaria Steffen.

Pallbearers will be Jason Elliott, Cory Elliott, Joel Grondek, Duane Meyer, Kevin Meyer and Kent Meyer.
