Mary E. Dye, 52, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, surrounded by her family, at Indian Hills Hospice Unit after a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nativity, with the Revs. Gerald Feierfeil and Andrew Sohm officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary by the Confraternity of Christian Mothers at 4:30 p.m., the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Mary was born Feb. 20, 1955, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Richard "Dick" and Doris (Eckerman) Delaney. She was raised in Mapleton, then moved to Sioux City, with her family, as a young child. She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School.
She married John R. Dye on July 6, 1974, in Sioux City. She worked for First National Bank as a teller until she became a homemaker.
She was a member of the Church of the Nativity and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to travel.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, John; a son and his wife, Bryan and Sarah Dye of Minneapolis; a daughter, Jill Dye of Sioux City; two grandsons, Ayden and Adam; a brother and his wife, John and Diane Delaney of Sloan, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Phil Tobias of Sioux City and Cherie and Terry Sohm of Hinton, Iowa; her father-in-law, Orval Dye of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Susan Wagner of Escondido, Calif.; and a dear friend, Sister Sally Mitchell of San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Hank Bush; her mother-in-law, Constance Dye; and a brother-in-law, Pete Dye.
Pallbearers will be Trevor Tobias, Todd Tobias, Travis Dye, Michael Delaney, John Delaney and Mike Pendergast. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Tobias, Amy Benson, Melissa Lehmann, Emily Gries, Molly Pendergast, Katie Delaney, Mindy Dye, Kortney Dye, Kristi Nelson and Stephanie Nelson.
