Irene Dove

Irene Dove, 87, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Regency Square Nursing Facility in South Sioux City.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Graceland Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Irene was born May 14, 1919, in Salem, Ore., the daughter of Arthur E. and Glyde Beatrice (Gardner) McClain. She graduated from Salem High School in Salem.

She married Benjamin MacAllister on Jan. 17, 1942. The marriage broke up in 1944. She later married Richard Vernon Dove in Las Vegas, Nev., on Sept. 15, 1945. Richard passed away in July of 1978, in Sioux City. Irene owned and operated her own ceramic business for 22 years in Sioux City.

She was active in Eastern Star, White Shrine, Daughters of the Nile and the White Shrine Drill Team. Irene enjoyed going and listening to big-name bands.

Survivors include two brothers and their wives, Gene and Lillian Mayers and Richard and Martha Mayers, all of Prineville, Ore.; four nieces and nephews, James (Barbara) Dove of Rockwall, Texas, Sharon (George) Thompson of Des Moines, Timothy (Betty) Dove of Plano, Texas, and Kimley (Claire) Dove of Omaha; numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Marylin Seeds and Fay Starns; and a brother Milton McClain.
