Helen Dorashkevich, 86, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007, at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil of Church of the Nativity officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Helen was born June 27, 1920, in Sioux City, the daughter of William and Nellie (Chernushavich) Dorashkevich. She graduated from Central High School in 1938. She was a life long Sioux City resident.
She had been employed with the city of Sioux City for a total of 30 years. Earlier, she worked in the Health Department for 15 years. Later, she was employed with the Sioux City Fire Department for 15 years as a secretary to the fire chief, retiring in 1985.
Survivors include two sisters and their husbands, Lena K. and Frank A. Bucchino of Sioux City and Olga and George R. Davis of Woodlawn Hills, Calif.; two nephews and their wives, George W. and Diana Davis of Chicago, Ill., and Steven and Karen Davis of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a nieces and her husband, Karen and Timothy Parker of Littleton, Colo.
Pallbearers will be members of the Sioux City Fire Department, Joel Plucker, Brad Robinson, Tom Leonard, Jeff Dunnington, Dan Cougill and Chuck Hirsch.
