Ruth M. Dommer, 77, of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008, at Sunrise Retirement Community. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church with Reverend Ralph Shorey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2008, in Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Ruth was born on September 7, 1930 in Rockham, SD to Rev. Philip and Paula (Pardieck) Mueller. She grew up in Huron, SD where she graduated from High School.
On April 11, 1951, she married Robert W. Dommer in Huron, SD. The couple lived in Sioux Falls for many years before moving to Windom, MN, Sioux City, IA, Aberdeen, SD, due to Bobs career. Bob and Ruth retired to Custer, SD.
Ruth was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lutheran Womens Missionary League, Faith, Hope and Charity Circle and also the Quilters Guild. She loved to camp with family and friends, knitting, crocheting, sewing. She also enjoyed her flower garden.
Ruth is survived by her 2 daughters, Joan Pratt and husband Dave of Sioux City, IA, Carol Blackwell and husband Dale of Mt. Prospect, IL, 4 grandchildren, Ruthie Pratt, Benjamin Pratt, Nathan Blackwell and Corbin Blackwell, 1 brother, John Mueller and wife Vonna of Mt. Prospect, IL, 3 sisters, Doris Freund and husband Ron Kiefer of Oviedo, FL, Lois Nielsen and husband George, of Rapid City, SD, and Miriam Gajdan and husband Lou of Custer, SD. and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert in 1987, and a sister, Rhoda Nielsen.
