SIOUX CITY -- David S. Dean, 50, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 17, 2009, at a Glendale hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Valerie Heller officiating. Private family graveside services will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. A memorial service will be held in Glendale at a later date. David was born March 22, 1959, to Robert and Linda (Miller) Dean, in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended Washington Elementary School, East Junior High School and graduated from East High School in 1977, followed by a year at the University of Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace United Methodist Church.
He was married to Jean Kreager on Sept. 26, 1981, in Boulder, Colo. They had two children, Amy and Chris.
He began his career in the cable business in Sioux City. His job provided him the opportunity to travel. He worked in Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado and California before making his home in Glendale in 1996. The last few years, he was employed with Jensen Communications Corp. and most recently with Truvance Management Inc.
He loved golf, especially at Indian Hills Golf Course in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He loved the Broncos, the Hawkeyes, NASCAR, crossword puzzles, building model cars with his son, Chris, and hanging with his many friends. His family was very important to him, especially his newest role as grandpa. He was loved by all and will be missed tremendously.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Linda Dean; his son, Chris Dean and his wife, Lucia and their son, Kaden of Surprise, Ark.; his daughter, Amy Dean of Surprise; his sister, Susan and her husband, Frank Boeshart and their two children, of Apple Valley, Minn.; a brother, Paul Dean and his wife, Lori and their two children; and a special uncle and aunt, Kack and Gloria Miller of Blue Springs, Mo., and their family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Jay Severson, Gene Anderson, Joel Oostenburg, Ron Gruis, Steve Stolen and Jerry Sparks.
