DAKOTA CITY -- Pamela K. (McManigal) Davis, 59, of Dakota City died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at her residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Whitfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sylvia Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Pam was born Feb. 6, 1952, in Sioux City, the daughter of Chester and Agnes (Haggin) Johnson. She grew up in Sioux City and attended West Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1970.
Pam married Michael T. McManigal in 1971. He died on May 7, 1982. She returned to school and graduated from Morningside College with a bachelor of science degree in accounting in 1987. She married D. Brian Davis on April 21, 1990, in Sioux City. She worked as an accountant for IBP and then Tyson Foods for 22 years, from 1987 to 2009.
She was a longtime member of Whitfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, scrap booking and spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending their activities. Pam and her late husband, Michael, were both foster parents before adopting their son, Justin.
Survivors include her husband, D. Brian Davis of Dakota City; four children, Scott McManigal and his significant other, Holly Becker of Sioux City, Amanda McManigal Bowling and her husband, Michael Bowling of Shawnee, Kan., Matthew McManigal of Sioux City, and Justin McManigal and his wife, Brandi of Omaha; four brothers and sisters, Paul Johnson of Sioux City, Paula Tate of Bondurant, Iowa, Phillip Johnson of Detroit, Mich., and Penny Pierce and her husband, Rick of the Baltimore, Md. area; and four grandchildren, Madison Becker, Bailey Becker, Ella Bowling, Samuel Bowling and one grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a half sister, Virginia Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Gerry Haggin, Denny McManigal, John Piester, Hunter Schweers, Allen Hayes and Steven Schweers.
