Edward L. Davis

Edward L. Davis, 71, of Sioux City, died Thursday, July 27, 2006 at a local hospital. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating. Services will conclude at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Edwards name.

Edward was born February 5, 1935 in Onawa, Iowa to Hale P. and Clarice (Hyatt) Davis. He attended and graduated from Smithland High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army on February 11, 1952. Edward was then honorably discharged on November 12, 1957 at Fort Carson, Colorado. He married Ardith Canon on January 18, 1958 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The couple returned to Sioux City shortly after his discharge, where they have remained. Edward worked as a refrigeration engineer for many years until his health force him to retire. He was an avid Sioux City Musketeers Hockey fan and a supporter since their inception. He also enjoyed spending time at their place in Running Water S.D. where he fished. Edward was a member of the American Legion Post #666 in Smithland, Iowa and was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Edward is survived by his wife: Ardith Davis, 2 sons: Timothy H. Davis of Hillsboro, OH: and Kenneth Davis of Hagerstown, MD: 9 grandchildren and 3 great, grandchildren: 1 sister: Bette McLarty of Whiting, IA: and 1 brother: George Davis of Birmingham, AL:

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister: Mary Drinkard, 2 brothers: Herbert Davis and Alfred Davis.
