Ella I. Davidson, 95 of Sioux City briefly of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City. Funeral services for Ella will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Craig Collison officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with family present 6-8 p.m., there will be a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Arrangements are by Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Online Condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Ella was born December 16, 1913 in Bloomfield, NE, the daughter of Amos and Sadie Trenhaile. She received her early education in the rural schools there. She graduated from High School in 1933 at Bloomfield, NE. She came to Sioux City in 1947 where she was employed in Domestic work. She later ran own day care for 25 years. She married Laurence John Davidson at St. Boniface Church in Sioux City in June of 1948. Retiring in 1975, the couple spent several winters in Texas enjoying their retirement years until death took her husband in July of 1983. She remained in the home on Douglas Street in Sioux City. At that time her home parish was Cathedral. In 1992 she sold the home and moved to Centennial Manor in Sioux City and was in the St. Boniface Parish. In 1995 she moved to Des Moines, IA to be near her son and family, residing at the Plaza Manor Apts. Her parish was St. Pius X. She was a Catholic Daughter and member of Confraternity while residing in the Cathedral Parish. She was also a member of the Senior Citizen Club and also the one downtown, Rosary Society at St. Boniface and a Catholic Daughters of America and Catholic Womens League. She continued with Catholic Daughters in Des Moines and she was also a member of the 50+ club and she did volunteer work. She is survived by her son David (Paula) Davidson of Des Moines; daughter Bonnie (Cris) Kalkman of Sioux City; grandchildren Tricia (Rich) Hommer, Sheenan (Joanna) and Ashley Kalkman, Eric (Katie) and Nikki Davidson, and great grandchildren Rachel and Jordan Hommer, Miriam Kalkman and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers Harold, Charlie, Harry and 1 sister Erma.
