Loren Phillip Davenport

August 29, 1928 — July 7, 2006

Loren Phillip Davenport, 77, of South Sioux City, NE died peacefully in his own home surrounded by his family on July 7th, 2006 after a brief illness. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday July 11, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Dakota City Cemetery in Dakota City, NE, following a luncheon at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA.

Loren was born in Hubbard, NE on August 29th, 1928, to Andrew and Bertha Davenport. He grew up in Walthill, NE, and served in the Army for 3 years. He owned a wrecker service for many years in the South Sioux City, NE area. He drove a stock car and had a great love of racing, hunting and gardening.

Loren married Rita on December 10, 1969 they enjoyed their life together in South Sioux City, NE. He is survived by his wife Rita of NE, six children Diane Williamson (Charlie) of FL, Kim Mason (Ron) of IA, Brenda Twyford (Mark) of NE, Terry Davenport of South Dakota, Robin Mahlberg (Andy) of NE, Stacy Harris (Brock) of IA, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, one brother Boyd Davenport of NE, and one sister Hazel Cain of OR. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 sisters.

Loren will be greatly missed by all those who loved him and knew him well. He was well known for his keen sense of humor and kindness to many.
