Myrtle R. Daniels, 74, of Sioux City, IA died Sunday, January 20, 2008 in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Floyd E. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2008 with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Myrtle was born April 9, 1933 in St. Joseph, MO to Katherine and Howard Pullins. She attended Bartlett High School where she played the French Horn for the marching band.
She married James Mchenry Daniels on May 21, 1951 in South Sioux City, NE. Myrtle worked as a nurses aide 20 years for St. Joseph hospital and later for Mercy Medical. After taking early retirement from the hospital she worked as a secretary for the Sanford Center and retirement permanently in 2000.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist church were she was the president of the mother board for many years. She loved to fellowship with the other Baptist churches in Sioux City and in Omaha. She enjoyed sewing, crochet and knitting.
Survivors include her sons David, Daryl, Duane and Derek Daniels and her daughters Diana Daniels and Darla Burns. Myrtle also has 9 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters and a host of Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, a son and a daughter.
Pallbearers will be David Daniels, Daryl Daniels, Duane Daniels. Daren Daniels, James Tillman and Charles Tillman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Diana Daniels, Darla Burns, Kenneth Irvin, Jr., Rudy Lee Jr., Sedale Daniels and Ezra Daniels.
