Esther E. Culley, 92, of Sioux City died Monday, March 24, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Ralph Shorey of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. There will be no visitation. Esther was born Jan. 28, 1916, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Willy F. and Elizabeth (Winter) Scheel. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1933.
She married Homer E. Culley on Nov. 17, 1940, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She worked for Johnson Biscuit Company and in her later years as an accountant in her husband's public accounting office.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church before becoming a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Homer of Sioux City; four sons, Dennis Culley of Union City, Calif., Linn Culley and his wife, Barb of Sioux City, Stanton Culley of Le Mars, Iowa, and Mark Culley and his wife, Deb of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Linda Culley, Christopher and Joni Culley and Adam and Emily Culley; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mabel Greene of Denison, Iowa, and Eunice Miller and Alice Kruithoff, both of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and two brothers, Merle and Floyd.
