George Robert "Bob" Crane Jr., 54, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at his residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. A private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Bob was born Nov. 9, 1952, in Sioux City, to George Robert and Bernice R. (Cantin) Crane. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School and attended Indian Hill Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa.
His first marriage was to Marsha Lederer. His second marriage was to Sandra Coyler. To this union, a son, Cory Robert Crane was born. Bob had worked as a police officer in South Sioux City. He had worked for the last 30 years as a meter reader and store keeper for MidAmerican Energy.
He was baptized and attended Catholic church. Bob loved playing softball and bowling. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, watching baseball (never missing an Explorers game), going to movies, and he was a huge Cornhusker fan. Bob will be remembered for always giving a lending hand to others. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched and being the kind, gentle giant that he was.
Survivors include his mother, Bernice R. Crane of Sioux City; a son, Cory Crane of Sioux City; his beloved mate, Gerri Breyfogle and her children, Brittany Scott of Sioux City and Lance Scott of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Judith Stuck, Jean Schrawyer and Paula (Paul) Barker, all of Sioux City; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
