SIOUX CITY -- Bernice R. Crane, 90, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.
Bernice was born March 15, 1920, in Sioux City, to Victor and Odile R. (Provost) Cantin. After graduating from Central High School, she went to Briar Cliff College and graduated from there in 1941. She was a librarian for the city of Sioux City.
She was married to George R. Crane on Jan. 3, 1942, in Coatesville, Pa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2004, in Sioux City.
Her Catholic faith was the most important aspect of her life. She and George donated numerous hours to several service organizations. She was a charter member of the Sioux City Lioness Club.
She is survived by her sister, Sister Jeanne Ann Cantin, O.S.F. of Dubuque, Iowa; three daughters, Judith Crane, Jeanne Schrawyer and Paula (Paul) Barker, all of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bob Crane Jr.; a brother, Freeman Cantin; three sisters, Elaine Thompson, Bonita "Boots" Casey and MaDonna Meinen; and a grandson, George R. Paasch.
