Jennie M. Crahan

April 24, 1921 — February 28, 2007

Jennie M. Crahan, 85, of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at a local hospital. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Reverend David Schoop officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hinton, Iowa.

Jennie was born on April 24, 1921 in Hinton, Iowa to William and Agusta (Roepke) Saunders. She grew up and attended rural school in Plymouth County and graduated from Hinton High School in 1938. Jennie moved to Sioux City in the early 1940s where she worked at Sue Bee Honey, J.C. Penney and Sears. Jennie married Francis J. Crahan on June 11, 1949 in Sioux City. She was a stay at home mom until 1965. Jennie then went to work at American Popcorn Company where she worked until she retired in 1986. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, Ladies Aid, Ruth Circle, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Jennie is survived by 2 daughters; Shari Crahan and Susan Musselman and her husband Mark all of Sioux City, 3 grandsons Scott, Christopher and Daniel Musselman, a brother; Stan Saunders and his wife Evelyn of Hinton, IA: 4 sisters-in-law Marcelline, Phyllis, Tish and Mildred.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband Francis in 1958, a son Craig in 1977, 7 brothers Don, Lyle, Lowell and his wife Edna, Dale, Dwight, William and Wayne, 1 sister Leila Sitzmann and her husband Jack. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church.
