Margie L. Copenhaver, 76, of Hinton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday also at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Mark Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Margie was born on August 2, 1930 in Hornick, Iowa to Seth and Martha (Curtis) Johnson. She grew up in Hornick and graduated from Hornick High School. Margie attended Wayne State College and Morningside College. She taught in the Pierson, Moville and Hornick school systems. Margie also subbed in Hinton after their marriage.
On May 18, 1952, she married Lyle Copenhaver in Hornick. The couple made their home in Hinton since 1955.
Lyle and Margie where charter members of New Hope Wesleyan Church since 1962. She was a member of Moms In Touch which prayed for kids in school. Margie taught Sunday school and adult bible study for years at her church. She enjoyed gardening and mowing the lawn, scrap booking, and decorating her home. Margie was very generous women and a lovable wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Margie is survived by her husband, Lyle of Hinton, IA: 2 sons, Alan Copenhaver and his wife Debra of Hinton, IA: and Bruce Copenhaver and his wife Lesa of Watertown, MN:, 5 grandchildren, Keith Copenhaver and his wife Jennifer, Becky Jenkins, Stephanie Copenhaver, Ryan Coperhaver, and Noah Horsman. 2 great grandchildren, Jaden Jenkins and D.J. Fischer. 2 brothers, Warren Johnson and his wife Evonne of Colorado Springs, CO: and Russell Johnson and his wife Wilda of Clinton, MO:, 3 sisters, Wanda Uhlman of South Beloit, IL: Joan Fick and her husband John of Danbury, IA: and Patty Villa of Los Angeles, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Clarice Alexander, 2 brothers-in-law, Bill Alexander and Howard Uhlman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Wesleyan Church in Margies name.
