Shirley F. Comstock

Shirley F. Comstock, 77, of Sioux City died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Indian Hills Nursing & Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the funeral home.

Shirley was born April 26, 1930, in Sioux City to Jesse and Evelyn (Hansel) Dillon. She graduated from Jefferson (SD) High School.

She married Jerome A. Comstock on April 2, 1949, in South Sioux City. He died Oct. 10, 2002, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Shirley worked at Central Campus for 10 years. She lived most of her life in Sioux City.

She was of the Methodist faith. Shirley enjoyed fishing with Jerome and going to the casino.

Survivors include three daughters, Jerri Streeter and her special friend, Jeff Johnson of Sioux City, Connie Mitchell and her husband, Marvin of Sioux City and Michele VanderSchaaf and her special friend, Bill Johnson of Sioux City; two brothers, Keith Dillon of Sioux City and Tom Dillon and his wife, Ginger of Sioux City; a sister, Norma Simpson and her husband, Ron of Sacramento, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Donna Jo Kolvek; and a sister, Joanne Mahnke.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Johnson, Bill Johnson, Marvin and Russ Mitchell, Ryan Kolvek and Casey Baker.
