Minnie Lenora Colyer

November 1, 1922 — July 11, 2008

Minnie Lorena Colyer, 85, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2008, at a local nursing home. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, also at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Adel officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lorena was born on November 1, 1922 in Minnesota Lake, MN, to August and Augusta (Wright) Jacobsen. She grew up in Minnesota Lake and graduated from High School there.

In 1942, she married Edward F. Colyer Sr. in Minnesota Lake. The couple lived in Minnesota for several years before moving to Sgt. Bluff in 1949, where he was a black smith and she was a home maker.

Lorena enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, flowers, and lawn ornaments. She and Edward loved taking short day trips around the area.

Lorena is survived by 2 children, Lorena Ruring of North Sioux City, SD, and Jim Colyer and wife Renee of Sgt. Bluff, IA, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward Sr. in 2005, 2 sons, Gene and Edward Jr. and by brothers and sisters.
